Unanimously confirmed as U.S. Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and the Environment on June 20, 2019, Keith Krach plans to achieve the goals of economic diplomacy and prosperity by leveraging private sector resources and innovation and strengthening the country’s partnerships with its allies. Throughout the course of his career prior to this position, Keith Krach spearheaded business transformations at DocuSign, Ariba, and Rasna Corporation, among other organizations.
Keith Krach served as president, CEO, and chairman of the board of DocuSign from 2009 to 2019. He led the Silicon Valley digital transaction management company from a startup to a global leader with services used by more than 450,000 companies in 188 countries. For his success at DocuSign, he was recognized as the 2016 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and the 2015 Bay Area’s Most Admired CEO. In his previous executive roles with Ariba and Rasna Corporation, Mr. Krach was credited with creating the tech industry categories of business-to-business e-commerce and mechanical design automation software.
Other private sector positions held by Keith Krach include CEO-in-Residence at the venture capital firm Benchmark Capital, chairman of the board of Angie’s List, and vice president at General Motors, where he facilitated the company’s joint venture with the Japanese company Fanuc to establish GMF Robotics. He began his career as a machinist, welder, and painter at his father’s machine shop.
In addition, Keith Krach served six years as chairman of the board of trustees at Purdue University and four years as international president of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Both institutions have named facilities in his honor. The recipient of an honorary doctorate in industrial engineering from Purdue, Mr. Krach also holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the same university and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Krach and his wife have 5 children and reside in San Francisco.
